Chinese Pronunciation
& Romanization Diagnostic Tests

Testing beginning students’ mastery of Chinese tones and Pinyin romanization using a traditional tape and paper presentation can be a tedious and time-consuming process for both instructor and student.  With Chinese P&R, students take the test on the computer, which automatically scores the test and indicates problem areas.  Students can then obtain a printout of their score and an error summary.  Use of the program has proven to be a major time saver for instructors, who can then spend more contact time with students in active language instruction.  Less dramatic, though still significant, are time savings for students, who are freed from dependence on unwieldy tape players and who receive feedback immediately upon completion of the tests.
